browser war claims life of brilliant student
from comp.lang.java.advocacy:
"Student Dies in Beta Browser Horror"
A brilliant young research student threw himself to his death from his
third story lab yesterday after spending four days tring to implement a
simple javascript function on Microsoft's new web browser IE4.
Apparently the program was insisting 'interface not supported' in
response to a window.open() call. Friends of the man, who has not been
named, said "he just couldn't understand it, this basic function seemed
to be syntactically correct but the program just refused to accept it".
The problem has since been traced to a shoddy setup program mangling
registry entries, up to 25% of IE4 users could be affected by this. A
spokesman for Microsoft commented "Lap it up suckers, we own you"
;)
